If you are looking for a relaxing massage to sooth you at the end of a stressful week then Swedish massage is ideal.
The slow strokes, friction, kneading and tapping movements used in Swedish massage help relax individual muscles. A one-hour massage can reduce stress by lowering the heart rate and the overall experience eliminates stress while replicating the movements of the circulatory system.
Swedish massage drains metabolic waste from the limbs and increases blood flow, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the muscles leading to reduction in pain, inflammation and stiffness.
There are many physical benefits associated with this type of massage such as relieving symptoms of disorders such as asthma, arthritis and headaches.
Following a session, clients not only feel relaxed but completely rejuvenated. This feeling is attributed to the release of dopamine and serotonin during massage. These hormones are responsible for happiness and feelings of well-being.
Other mental benefits associated with Swedish massage are improvement in length and quality of sleep, relief of depression, anxiety and irritability.
There are some contra-indications to massage. These will all be discussed at the beginning of your massage. If you are suffering any serious physical disorders or conditions please check with your doctor first.
Your massage will be a completely relaxing experience. Come wearing comfortable clothing. You will be left to get undressed alone, down to your underwear, and to lie on the bed under a clean sheet before the therapist re-enters the room. The only part of your body that will be exposed will be area being massaged.
